The Environmental Health Unit of the La Nkwantanang-Madina Municipal Assembly has held a sensitisation exercise with a call on pupils to observe basic hygiene practices, on Friday, February 4, 2022.
It was intended to inculcate the habit of personal hygiene among the children as they grow in order to live strong and healthy.
Alaru Azuma Alhassan, a staff of the Environmental Health Unit of the Assembly said, communicable diseases such as cholera, diarrhoea, dysentery among others can easily infect children who lack the habit of regular hand washing.
He, therefore advised the pupils to be committed and disciplined in hand hygiene so as to distance themselves from being predisposed to these diseases which can disrupt their studies.
The Assembly distributed hygiene products such as tissue and sanitizers to the pupils to help them practice safe hand hygiene. A demonstration of ideal hand washing practice was conducted to enable pupils wash their hands properly.
