The Livelihood Empowerment Against Poverty (LEAP) is a social protection strategy by the government of Ghana to reduce poverty and smoothen consumption among the poor and needy in society. The program has been in existence since 2015. The LEAP programme comes with some complimentary services that beneficiaries are entitled to, such as free and compulsory NHIS registration and renewal for members of each households
To ensure that the LEAP Programme runs successfully together with its complimentary services, beneficiaries of the Programme were registered unto the NHIS platform as well as those on the platform had their cards renewed on 27th April, 2022.
The exercise or activity was done based on the data given by the LEAP Management Secretariat on the LEAP Households. The LEAP Management Secretariat has a data on all the LEAP Households and the activity was to ensure that all beneficiary members including the newly enrolled ones and the existing ones had their cards done for them. The total number of LEAP beneficiaries registered were eighty-one (81)
Beneficiaries already had their cards renewed and new household members were also enrolled unto the scheme.
