As part of their mandates to seek the welfare of children, the Municipal’s Directorate of Social Welfare Department, Ghana Education Service and Commission for Technical Vocational and Training (TVET) has organized a 3-day sensitization workshop for all final year basic students in the Madina Municipality. The programme officially commenced on 19th July 2022 and ended 21st July 2022.
The purpose of the programme was to provide the routine guidance and counselling services to the 2022 BECE final year students.
The schools that participated were from the various circuit in the municipality. They included Danfa, PRESEC, Pantang, Nkwantanang, Estate, Fire Amour and Oyarifa.
It was estimated that about 920 participants took part in the programmes which comprised 450 female students, 320 male students, 100 parents, and 20 resource persons.
Mr. Francis Ghartey, a resource person from Madina Social Welfare, elaborated on the various existing rights such as, right to family, right to education, protection from harm, freedom of thought, access to information.
The participants were informed not to hesitate to report issues of Domestic violence, child marriage, child maintenance, rape, defilement, child trafficking that happens in their communities for appropriate action to be taken against offenders and save the vulnerable.
