Mrs Jennifer Dede Adjabeng, the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for La Nkwantanang-Madina Municipal Assembly on behalf of the Assembly presented assorted items to forty Persons Living With Disabilities (PLWDs) in the Municipality on Wednesday, January 11, 2023.

The items range from deep freezers, industrial sewing machines, hair dryers and accessories, oven baking products, wheel chairs, provisions and assorted drinks; others were  school fees, medical bills, creates of eggs and prosthesis  were funded from the Assembly’s share of the Disability Fund were expected to set up each beneficiary to earn a livelihood.

Addressing the media after the presentation at the Assembly’s premises, Mrs Adjabeng said, it was important to set up people with disabilities in businesses to be on their own instead of giving them cash which cannot change their economic situation.

She advised the beneficiaries to put into good use the items given to them by the Assembly for their own benefits, and encouraged other PLWDs to register with the Social Welfare for easy identification for support.

The MCE said, though individuals who were not members of any disability group could benefit from the disability fund, it was important for them to join any of the association which falls under the PLWDs to enable them get support from other stakeholders.

Mr. Nicolas Bekoe, a beneficiary expressed his gratitude to the government for the support and admonished his colleagues beneficiaries to make good use of the items to improve upon their living conditions.
