LA-Nkwantananang-Madina Municipal Holds Stakeholders’ Engagement To Tackle Challenges In Education

The La Nkwantanang Municipal Assembly in collaboration with the Municipal Education Directorate has held a stakeholders’ engagement to tackle pressing challenges in the educational sector on Tuesday, January 31, 2023 at Faith Baptist Church, Madina.

It was on the theme “the role and responsibilities of head teachers and School Improvement Support Officers (SISOs) in improving education in the municipality”.

Among other dignitaries present were the Municipal Coordinating Director, Madam Abena Kwesiwa Kyei; Headmistress WASS, Dr Ofori Shine; Headmaster Presec, Mr. David Odjidja and Municipal Chairman, Ghana National Association of Teachers, Chris Yaw Adinkra.

In an address, the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) Hon.Jennifer Dede Adjabeng said one of the principal aims of the Assembly was for the municipality to excel and succeed in its educational goals and objectives with all hands on deck.

The MCE said the assembly was fully aware of the infrastructural and logistical challenges confronting education in the municipality, adding that the assembly was putting in place the necessary measures to get those concerns addressed in the foreseeable future.

For her part, the Director of Human Resources at the Ministry of Education, Mrs Angela Frimpomaa Nkansah randomly engaged with head teachers and SISos who shared their challenges and experiences to set the tone for the deliberation.

The Municipal Director of Education, Mr. Kean Appiah following a power-point presentation on the dynamics of education in the municipality called for the assembly and education directorate to work hand in hand to achieve the desired outcomes of education in the municipality.

In a brief speech, the National Best Teacher for 2022, Ms. Stella Gyimaah Larbi urged colleague teachers to be focused and clear-minded in their work as teachers adding that, that would put them on the map and cause others to emulate as role models.

She urged head teachers to consciously identify conscientious and hardworking teachers, pay attention to what they do and regularly encourage them to be innovative in what they do.
