The Health directorate of LaNMMA on Thursday, May 18, 2023, organized a workshop at the Assembly Hall on theme “Nutrition Friendly School Initiative” program for private schools.
The Nutrition Friendly School Initiative (NFSI) is a school based health and nutrition program which was implemented by the Ghana Health Service (GHS) in collaboration with Ghana Education Service (GES) to address the burden of malnutrition. It defines a package of health and nutrition services that should be implemented in schools to improve the nutrition and health of the children. Public schools in the Municipality have been trained on the NFSI and are implementing it. This training was to get on board some private schools in the municipality.
Resource people for the program include; Dr. Mrs. Priscilla Anima Poku (Municipal Health Director), who gave the welcome address to participants; Miss Farida Alidu (Principal Nutritionist, LaNMMA and Miss Vida Wewupadi Agoriwo (Municipal Health Promotion Officer).
