The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) of La Nkwantanang-Madina Municipal Assembly (LaNMMA), Ibrahim Faila Fuseini has led a special operations team to caution traders, hawkers and pedestrians against crossing the N.1 highway and other illegal activities within the Madina Central Business District (CBD).
The event which took place on Tuesday, September 30, 2025 saw in attendance, the members of the Municipal Security Council, Heads of Department, the Assembly’s Taskforce and media personnel.
The team inspected the footbridges along the Madina-Adentan highway, and Redco flats and visited Zongo Junction, Madina market, Ritz Junction and the Redco Market area.
The operation brought the spotlight on areas where there were unauthorized structures and encroachment.
Addressing the media, Hon. Faila mentioned the relevance of citizens’ involvement and participation in local governance.
The MCE said in local governance, citizenship engagement was necessary for decision- making as in a functioning democracy.
According to him, authorities would not hesitate to crack down on recalcitrant persons acting contrary to the stated rules.
He also urged the traders to comport themselves adding that once they do so, they can continue to sell their wares.
At the Fire Service station, he urged the Assembly engineers to ensure that a private developer whose property has blocked the Fire Service Tender view was pulled down to ensure a free flow each time the Fire Tender wants to move out in case of emergency.
The MCE disclosed that the assembly, will from October this year engage the services of the police and the Assembly’s taskforce to ensure pedestrians use the footbridge instead of crossing the traffic light.
He explained that the exercise was not to punish anybody but to prevent and to protect precious lives from perishing on weekly basis through vehicular and motor accident.
