The attention of the La Nkwantanang-Madina Municipal Assembly (LaNMMA) has been drawn to recent media publications and commentaries alleging that the Municipal Chief Executive has engaged in the takeover and sale of land purportedly belonging to a private individual.

The Assembly wishes to state that these allegations are false, baseless, and misleading.

Following a thorough verification at the Lands Commission, it has been confirmed that the land in question is state property, duly acquired by the Government of Ghana. The parcel of land is therefore not the private property of any individual, and at no point has the MCE or any official of the Assembly sold or attempted to dispose of any such land.

The Assembly notes with concern that certain media outlets and individuals are using these false claims to incite public tension and create unnecessary fear, even suggesting possible violence if the MCE is not “called to order.” The LaNMMA strongly condemns such irresponsible reportage, which has the potential to disturb public peace and undermine the integrity of local governance.

The Office of the MCE wishes to assure the public that the LaNMMA operates strictly within the law and adheres to all administrative and legal processes guiding the management of public lands. The Assembly remains open to any lawful investigation by appropriate authorities, including the Office of the President, as we have nothing to hide.

We therefore call on the media and the general public to disregard these unfounded allegations, and we urge all journalists to verify facts with the Assembly and the Lands Commission before publication. The LaNMMA remains focused on delivering development and improving the welfare of residents of La Nkwantanang-Madina, and as such will ensure that all ‘stolen’ state lands in the municipality are secured back to the state.
