The La Nkwantanang Madina Municipal Assembly has supported four schools with one thousand mono desks to boost academic productivity in the municipality.

The schools are West Africa Senior High School (WASS), Madina Technical Institute   (MTI) Danfa Technical Institute and Presbyterian Boys Secondary School (PRESEC).

The breakdown of the distribution include 150 desks for Danfa Technical Institute, 250 desks for Madina Technical and 300 desks each for WASS and PRESEC

The Municipal Chief Executive for the Municipality, Hon. Ibrahim Faila Fussein said the gesture was made at the instance of the President, His Excellency John Dramani Mahama who was passionate about resourcing our education system to make it productive and provide the requisite environment for students to learn.

He said the President was deeply concerned about improving the state of education in the country as a whole including the few second cycle institutions in the Municipality to enable them deliver the needed outcomes.

According to him, sustainable efforts would be put in place to ensure that logistical provision was prioritized to promote a congenial learning environment for students.

He advised the students to keep the items in good shape to prolong their lifespan and allow future generations to have access to them.

The Deputy Regional Director of Ghana Technical Vocational Education and Training (TVET) Service, Mr. Ahetor commended the assembly for the timely gesture which would support infrastructure deficit in the schools.

He said the partnership between the assembly and the service should forge forward and bring the ultimate success to the institutions.

He disclosed that though the request was placed at the doorstep of the assembly at the last minute, the significance that was attached to the intervention was noteworthy.

Mr. Ahetor mentioned that, TVET would remain crucial to being the bedrock of development in a broad sphere of human needs.

Expressing their appreciation, the Vice- Principal of Administration of Madina Technical Institute, Madam Genevieve Aseye Nutakor and Head of Stores, PRESEC, Mr. Stephen Dadzie both said the donation was timely and would go a long way to address the furniture deficit facing the school.
