The La Nkwantanang Madina Municipal Assembly has commissioned a 120 square metre mosque on the Assembly premises to support the regular prayer demands of Islamic staff of the Assembly, constructed by EL-KSA construction limited, the facility has mechanical borehole, 5000 litre polytank and a 6 unit washroom

It was funded by Qatar Charity, a leading non-governmental, humanitarian and development organization established in 1992 in Qatar. In a brief remark, the country Director of Qatar Charity Foundation, Hasan Ouda said the foundation began such developmental initiatives in Ghana in 2018 and has footprints in different parts of the country.

He said the foundation shifted its focus to providing essential services such as health and educational services. He said upon consultative engagement with the MCE, a number of infrastructural projects were outlined for construction with the first one being the mosque.

He urged the leadership of the Assembly to ensure that the projects were maintained in good shape, adding that the foundation has a long future relationship with the Assembly and community in terms of development infrastructure projects.

On his part, the Municipal Chief Executive, (MCE) Hon Faila Fuseini thanked the foundation for the generous gesture which would go a long way to impact the community. He said upon assuming office as an MCE, one of his key priorities was to improve staff welfare and operational efficiency.

According to him, for that purpose he identified the lack of a dedicated place of worship for Muslim staff, adding that it was a significant challenge as Muslim staff were required to observe their daily prayers without fail.

In a brief remark, Sheikh Turki Almari, a Qatar Professor and Imam for the Qatari National Mosque prayed for Allah’s guidance to enable the foundation complete all the projects it has started in the community. He urged the importance of a strict maintenance culture for all the facilities completed and yet-to-be built to prolong their life span.
