Seven Educational Institutions In LaNMMA To Get Modern Toilets Facilities

The Greater Accra Sustainable Sanitation and Livelihood Improvement Project (GASSLIP) is an initiative meant to provide decent sanitation infrastructure in a sustainable and inclusive manner for various institutions and communities within the Greater Accra region.

It also a program that is meant to provide various educational institutions with toilet facilities that are largely user friendly for persons living with disabilities

On Monday 14th November 2022, a team from GASSLIP together with officials from La Nkwantanang-Madina Municipal Assembly embarked on a working visit to selected educational institution within the Municipality.

The purpose of the visit was to inspect and hand over sites for construction of gender and disability friendly toilets in prioritized schools under GASSLIP to the various contractors to commence work.

Among the selected schools to benefit from the sanitation facilities includes; Aisha Bintu Islamic School at Danfa, Ayi Mensah Basic School, Pantang Government Hospital Primary & JHS, The Presbyterian Boys Senior High School,  West Africa Senior High School and Immanuel Presbyterian A&B, KG and Government Vocational School.

The Municipal Environmental Health Officer, Mr. Joseph Quarcoe assured the project implementation team that funds had been allocated for construction of the facilities and therefore urge the team to begin work earnestly. Other officials from the Assembly were the Municipal Planning Officer, Frederick Asiama and Municipal Works Engineer, Joseph Ohene Debra.

On the other hand, Dr. Daniel Sarpong and Alhassan Osman represented GASSLIP as project engineer and safe guard specialist.

Depending on the school’s population, the facilities come with two-storey ranges from 12 to 17-seater with ancillary facilities would be completed in six months’ time.
