The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for La Nkwantanang-Madina Municipal Assembly (LaNMMA), Mrs. Jennifer Dede Adjabeng on behalf of the Assembly commissioned a 3 unit classroom block for Aisha Bintu Islamic School at Otinibi on Thursday 6th February 2019. The new school block which is already furnished also comes with other ancillary facilities like an office and a store. The construction of the project which was completed within scheduled time lasted for six months.
Speaking at the well-attended durbar, the MCE expressed her joy over the completion of the project on time, and commended the contractor for a good work done.
Mrs. Adjabeng said, the biggest vision and priority of President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo was to ensure that every Ghanaian child of school going age is enrolled in school. Therefore, “the expectation is that no child in this community should be denied the opportunity of having access to quality education”. The MCE admonished. Mrs. Adjabeng also said the Aisha Bintu Islamic Basic School placed fifth in the last year’s BECE in the Municipality and was of high praise for the headmistress and the staff.
The Minister for Inner Cities and Zongo Development, Dr. Abdul Hamid Mustapha who was the Special Guest of Honour for the occasion urged parents to show interest in their children, especially when it comes education adding, “Knowledge is better than wealth”. He reiterated that one of the biggest vision of the President was the promotion of quality education nation-wide.
The Minsiter said government was putting in place measures to establish at least two model Islamic Schools in all the 16 regions to serve as centres of excellence.
The Member of Parliament for the area, Boniface Abubakar Saddique expressed the hope that the inauguration of the school block would enhance quality education in the municipality.
The function which was chaired by Nii Kwei Dzamansa IV, Otinibi Mantse also saw in attendance; the Municipal Director of Education, Angela Frempomaa Nkansah; the Municipal Coordinating Director, Mr. Francis Kweku Asiedu; Chiefs, Imams and Heads of Department.
