Addressing the media after the ground-breaking ceremony, the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for La Nkwantanang-Madina Municipal Assembly, Mrs. Jennifer Dede Adjabeng stated that the construction of the centre has been necessitated by the urgent need for the Assembly to respond to myriad of challenges confronting the teeming youth of the Municipality.

She added that the situation has warranted such a facility to provide a one-stop counseling centre stocked with professionals to offer a variety of youth-centred services intended to bail them out of their distressed circumstances. The MCE further disclosed that the facility to be constructed also has a shelter for displaced and missing children/persons most of which end up at the Assembly sometimes at odd hours for temporary custody and protection.

Mrs. Adjabeng once again appealed to the good people of the Municipality to continue to keep faith with the Assembly and the Government of the day, as they systematically address the developmental problems of the Municipality and the country as a whole.

The Municipal Engineer, Joseph Ohene Debrah for his part indicated that the project is expected to be completed in 4 Calendar months, and that come the end of first quarter of 20222, the contractor should be ready for handing over of the project to the Assembly for use. He added that the Assembly would closely monitor the project to ensure quality delivery and value for money in its execution. Mr. Debrah disclosed that as part of measures to economize land use, the Assembly had designed the Adolescent Reproductive Centre Block to be high-rise. Stressing that the ground floor would serve the current need, with the first and other floors being put to other uses in the foreseeable future.
