The La Nkwantanang Madina Municipal Assembly (LaNMMA) in partnership with the Ghana Health Service and the National Malaria Control Programme (NMCP) organised one-day stakeholders meeting at the Conference Hall of the Assembly on 9th November, 2021. The meeting facilitated by the Municipal Health Director, Dr. Mrs. Priscila Anima Poku discussed household registration and other modalities for the distribution of treated insecticide nets to the public under the Long Lasting Insecticide Treated Net (LLIN) Point Mass Distribution (PMD) Campaign for 2021.

Addressing the shareholders, Mrs. Dorothy Asiama, an official of the Municipal Health Directorate disclosed that the LLIN was one of the flagship interventions recommended by the World Health Organisation (WHO) to reduce malaria transmission in high risk communities. She added that the intervention is meant to protect households from the incidence of uncomplicated Malaria cases by 80%.
Mrs. Asiama explained the requirements for the registration exercise which is to begin on Monday, November 15, 2021 and end on Sunday, November 21, 2021. She added that name of household heads, the number of people making-up a given household, house numbers of households concerned; locations, valid identification card and contact numbers of prospective registrants would be needed as part of the registration processes; and subsequent distribution of the nets.
She further intimated the net distribution had been scheduled to commence on 14th December and ends on 21st December, 2021. The programme ended with a call on all stakeholders to actively participate in the exercise to make a success.
