The La Nkwantanang Madina Municipal Assembly on Wednesday, January 26, 2022 commenced the enforcement of “Operation Clean Your Frontage” initiative on a pilot basis to create awareness on the campaign within the municipality.
With the Municipal Chief Executive, Madam Jennifer Dede Adjabeng in attendance, Assembly members and staff of the assembly were divided into groups to help in educating the people on the initiative.
Notices were issued by the various groups to defaulters which requires them to clean their frontages and their surroundings before a given period of time. This was to serve as a warning since there would be no room for pleading once a defaulter is summoned to court.
The initiative “Operation Clean Your Frontage” by the Greater Accra Regional Minister, Henry Quartey is a component of “Let’s Make Accra Work” agenda by the Regional Minister. This was to make it obligatory for all individuals and shop owners to be responsible for the cleaning of their immediate surroundings to help the President realize his vision of making “Accra the cleanest city in Africa”
In an interview with the media, Madam Jennifer Dede Adjabeng said the exercise was to create awareness on the full implementation of the initiative that begins on Tuesday, 1st February, 2022.
“So far we have been to so many houses and shops and have issued notice to defaulters, warned those who needed to be warned and have summoned those who needed to be summoned,” the MCE said.
One common thing the team noticed was that, most shop and house owners had only their frontage swept, leaving other places unkempt, and were advised to be responsible for their surroundings.
