The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for La Nkwantanang-Madina Municipal Assembly (LaNMMA), Jennifer Dede Adjabeng, has encouraged candidates participating in the West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) in the municipality to remain confident and approach their papers with determination to enable them perform creditably.
Mrs. Adjabeng disclosed this during her tour of some selected West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) centres on Monday, 25th September, 2022. Some of the centres visited were the West African Senior High School (SHS), and Faith Baptist School.
According to her, government is dedicated to making sure that the enabling environment and financial support is made available for those she described as ‘‘brilliant but needy students’’.
She disclosed that, as part of plans to ease the burden on students and parents, the government coming into power introduced the Free SHS Tertiary Scholarship Scheme to help students who for financial reasons cannot further their education at the tertiary level.
“For the many of us who may have some financial challenges with your fees for the next stage, there is a scholarship available at the Assembly for you but then it is strictly for brilliant but needy students, so you need to distinguish yourself to be able to access the scholarship”, Mrs. Adjabeng reiterated.
The MCE was accompanied by the Municipal director of Education, supervisors from the Ghana Education Service and some officers from the Assembly.
