To give effect to a desire resolution reached at a management meeting on Development Control in the municipality, the La Nkwantanang-Madina Municipal Assembly embarked on monitoring exercise in various suburbs of the municipality on Thursday, 19th January, 2023.
This is to ensure that sanity prevails in the area of development across the length and breadth of the municipality.
The monitoring team that embarked on the initial exercise included the Municipal Chief Executive, Mrs. Jennifer Dede Adjabeng, the Municipal Coordinating Director, Madam Abena Kwesiwa Kyei, Municipal Works Engineer, Joseph Ohene Debrah, Physical Planning Director, Mr. Offei Kumi among others.
Interacting with developers at various sites, Mrs. Adjabeng said the exercise was very crucial to ensure that builders abide by building development regulation codes of the Assembly.
She said the exercise was also being undertaken to rake in the much needed revenue without which the Assembly cannot meet its development objectives.
During the exercise, the team observed some developers were on site but failed to produce the relevant documents. Such persons had their working tools and equipment seized. Meanwhile, others duly produced the necessary documents and were given the green light to continue their work.
The Assembly have had the cause and taken the pains to constantly educate developers to keep a copy of their building documents on site to avoid interruptions from authorities from the Assembly.
The over three hour exercise had the team visiting places like, Ogbojo, Local Government Institute area, Madina Estate, Presec Basic School enclave and some parts of North Legon Extension.
