The Deputy Minister of Local Government, Decentralization & Rural Development, Martin Adjei Korsah paid a working visit to the La Nkwantanang-Madina Municipal Assembly on Thursday, June 15, 2023. The visit was intended to inspect and assess the various ongoing Greater Accra Resilience Integrated Development (GARID) project in the Municipality. Prior to his visit on a similar mission, the Minister had visited a number of Assemblies working under the GARID Project including Ablekuma West, Ablekuma North and La-Dadekotopon Municipal Assemblies.
At the Assembly premises, the Minister witnessed a presentation by the Municipal Planning Officer, Mr. Fredrick Asiamah on the various activities and projects undertaken by the Assembly under GARID. In attendance at the forum were the Municipal Chief Executive, Hon Jennifer Dede Adjabeng and other heads of department of the Assembly.
The Planning Officer gave a comprehensive presentation on the activities, projects and exercises that the assembly had embarked upon under GARID in the intervening period since the launch of the project. He mentioned sensitization exercises, dredging and desilting of drains, at all flood-prone areas as the key programmes regularly undertaken by the Assembly to reduce the incidence of flooding and its attendant challenges.
Following the presentation, a joint team of the Minister and his entourage and the MCE and her team from the Assembly, had scheduled to tour dredged drains and desilted drainages at various locations but the tour was called off due to a heavy downpour.
