The La Nkwantanang-Madina Municipal Assembly has organised Fun Games for its staff at the Madina AstroTurf on Friday, November 24, 2023.
The maiden event which was highly patronised by staff of the assembly and other stakeholders was geared towards deepening the good relations between the Assemblies work force.
The games were generally outdoor games including football, ampe, Gjama competition, tag of peace, shuttle race, sack race, cooking competition, among others and were competed among six groups.
Sensational Group 6 which swept most of the awards emerged the overall best followed by group 1 and 4 taking the 2nd and 3rd positions respectively.
The 4th position was won by group 2 with group 5 taking the penultimate position to group 6.
Addressing staff at the games, the Municipal Chief Executive Hon. Jennifer Dede Adjabeng commended assembly staff for their hard work and added that the assembly have put a raft of measures in place to improve the working conditions of staff members.
According to her, the assembly would soon increase staff salary by 25 percent in conformity to the recent upward review of the Single Spine Pay Structure for public service workers.
“The Assembly has taken steps to increase the salary of staff on its payroll in the year 2024. I assure you that no staff would be paid below the National Minimum wage of GHC14.88 starting January 2024”, she said.
She said the assembly places much premium on its staff adding that staff motivation and staff welfare would continually be prioritized by the assembly to promote efficiency.
On his part, the Head of Local Government Service, Nana Ato Arthur commended the assembly for the initiative which he said would go a long way to promote productivity and efficiency at the work place.
He urged other assemblies to emulate the fitness initiative to promote robust health and wellbeing of staff.
