Government of Ghana through the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO) has extended relief support to two categories of Disaster Victims in the La Nkwantanang-Madina Municipality. The presentation was done as part of a situational assessment visit to the site of a recent fire disaster at Nkwantanang in the La Nkwantanang-Madina Municipality on 21st July, 2025 at instance of the Greater Accra Regional Minister and the Director-General of NADMO.

The event was attended by the MCE and selected Management Staff of La Nkwantanang-Madina Municipal Assembly, Regional and Municipal NAMDO Officers, Member of Parliament for Madina, Representatives of Media Houses, Community Members, Assembly Members and the general public.

The officials who made the presentation indicated that the package which included food items, cash, mosquito nets, plastic utensils are part of Governments short-term intervention to cushion them against the hardships unleashed by the two devastating disasters. They added that Government was feverishly mobilizing to come to the aid of the victims with a more comprehensive   package to take care of all the items destroyed by the disasters. The victims were therefore implored to accept the token relief items in good faith and keep their fingers crossed for the ultimate package.

NADMO and NEIP Officials took advantage of the ceremony to educate the public on management of domestic fire gadgets like cylinders, safe electrical installations, maintenance of proper sanitation and community access. Members of the public were also given the opportunity to elicit responses to pertinent concerns and questions bothering them.

A total of 104 make-shift structures housing approximately 295 dwellers were affected by the  July 16, 2025 fire disaster with 200 persons displaced by the 20th May, 2025 floods that resulted in the death of one person. The flood victims and the family of the deceased were presented with a cash of GHC50, 000.00 whereas the fire victims received assorted relief items as an interim support.
