A combined team of Forestry Commission Officers and personnel from Ghana Armed Forces has since last Friday being delivering various species of seedlings to the LaNMMA Social Welfare office in Madina for the 2022 edition of Green Ghana Day.
Among the seedlings delivered so far are fruits and shade trees ranging from coconut, orange, acacia, royal palm etc.
This year’s Green Ghana Day in the municipality will be celebrated by the Assembly and it’s stakeholders including Forestry Commission, NDPC, Climate Action- NGO , CDO, Chiefs, Assembly Members, Artisans; Residents Associations, CSOs, Students and Educational Authorities, among others.
The overall objective of the exercise is to use the tree planting as a tool to mitigate climate change impact in the country.
The tree planting exercise is national in character and that all Ghanaians and foreign nationals resident in Ghana are warmly invited to participate in the exercise.
The Assembly intends to plant over 20,000 trees this year.
