The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for La Nkwantanang-Madina Municipal Assembly, Madam Jennifer Dede Adjabeng has paid a courtesy call on the Chief of Madina, Baba Seidu at his palace on Friday December 22, 2022 to express her appreciation to the Chief for gracing the occasion of the funeral of her late mother.
Madam Dede Adjabeng expressed joy about how the Chief and his large entourage of sub-chiefs came to mourn with her during the occasion on Saturday, December 11, 2022.
She seized the opportunity to also inform the gathering of a hostel facility to be built by government for head potters in the Municipality to bring them under one roof to provide security and for their easy mobilisation and coordination of their activities.
A sub-chief, Abdul Kadle Yakubu said that the incident of head potters migrating down south to Accra and other cities to ply their trade, this was because the sheanut business which hitherto provided a lot of economic opportunities in the value chain had collapsed.
According to him, to curtail the continuous migration of head potters to the city for greener pastures, COCOBOD should revert to the decision of buying the sheanut in bulk to create brisk business for the youth in the area and offer them brighter economic prospects which would compel them to remain up north.
In his closing remark, the Chief of Madina thanked the MCE for the gesture, saying that his doors were always opened to her, adding that, “his outfit would always collaborate with the assembly to ensure development for the people.”
