Team CSR Ghana, a Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) in collaboration with the ‘Beyond the Return Project’ and La Nkwantanang-Madina Municipal Assembly have organized the second Annual Health Fair for the La Nkwantanang-Madina Municipality in Accra, on Saturday, 30th March, 2024.
Participants were taken through screening on diabetes, High Blood Pressure, eye screening, education on the spine while a host of medical practitioners were on standby to offer medical advice to participants on special medical cases.
About 200 people were targeted by the NGO to be signed up on the National Health Insurance Scheme for free.
The Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Team CSR Ghana, Mr. Jonathan Akuamoah said the organization is predominantly funded by its local and international partners and groups and individuals in the diaspora.
He said the NGO was scheduled to embark on the health fair in every district adding that a similar fair was held at Adenta last year.
Mr. Akuamoah said Team CSR Ghana was engaged in constructing mechanized boreholes for communities all over Ghana which was challenged with the threat of no access to safe drinking water, adding that the NGO has constructed 120 boreholes in the past two years for over 150, 000 Ghanaians at the cost of $600,000.
The Municipal Chief Executive for La Nkwantanang-Madina Municipal, Hon. Jennifer Dede Adjabeng thanked Team CSR for bringing medical relief and intervention to the doorstep of the people.
She said such an exemplary gesture would mitigate to a large extent, the cost burden of seeking medical intervention for majority of residents.
On behalf of the people, he expressed appreciation to the organization for the humanitarian effort at addressing their basic medical needs.
A Senior Corporate Affairs Officer at the Ghana Tourism Authority, Ms. Judith Kelly said it was essential to acknowledge the intrinsic relationship between health and tourism.
She said a thriving tourism sector depends not only on the beauty of our landscape and the richness of our culture but also the wellbeing of our people.
Healthy communities, she said, are better equipped to welcome the host visitors, providing them with enriching experiences while ensuring their safety and comfort.
The NGO donated bails of second hand clothing to participants and handed them food and refreshment.
