This year a total of 5,330 candidates in the La Nkwantanang-Madina Municipality are taking part in this year’s Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE). The total number is drawn from 44 public schools and 108 private schools. These are made up of 2532 males and 2798 females writing in 25 centres.
The Municipal Chief Executive, Hon. Ibrahim Faila Fusseini and the Member of Parliament, Hon Dr. Francis Xavier Sosu with the Municipal Director of Education Mr. Philip Aidoo toured selected BECE Centres. These centres include St Andrews, Presec Basic, Madina SDA and Fire Armour Primary and JHS.
Hon. Fusseini encouraged the students to be calm, confident devoid of any fear. He also advised the candidates not to do anything that would mar the conduct of the exams. The MCE further said teachers have done a great job preparing them for the exams.
The MP informed the students about a scholarship scheme for the best candidate in the Municipality. He said student would be supported through from the SHS to the University level.
The tour also formed part of the efforts to monitor the conduct of the exams and to gain first-hand knowledge into the state of some educational infrastructure in the Municipality.
